Spiritual Preparedness: Strive to continue to study the scriptures and the Ensign magazine, and to keep the commandments of God.

Spiritual Preparedness: Go to lds.org, look up a favorite conference talk, and discuss it with your family.

Extra Item: 30 pounds of beans

Family Preparedness: Review your disaster plan with all members of your family.

Spiritual Preparedness: Read D&C 88:119. Pray with your spouse as well as your family.

Family Preparedness: Complete a contact card for each family member. Have each family member keep the cards handy in their wallets, purse, backpack, etc. These cards should include important phone numbers, including a contact that lives out of the area.

Family Preparedness:  check all windows around the house and make sure they work properly to use as an exit, in case of an emergency. Teach all family members how to operate the windows and give specific permission to break their window if it will not open in a TRUE emergency.
Spiritual Preparedness: Read Mosiah 4:6-12
Trust in the Lord and turn to Him for help.

Family Preparedness: To prevent fires, clean out storage areas. Do not let trash such as newspaper and magazines accumulate.
Spiritual Preparedness: Read "Come to the Temple" by President Boyd K. Packer. Ensign, October 2007. Plan to regularly attend the temple.

52 Weeks to Preparedness- Week 41

Food Storage: 20 pounds of sugar
Extra Item: 3 months of dish soap
Family Preparedness: Review your family safety plan. Plan a fire drill sometime (preferably in the middle of the night) to be sure they can hear the alarms and know what to do.
Spiritual preparedness: Read Doctrine & Covenants 38:24-27
Strive to become united with those in your ward and community.

In your daily lives, strive to have faith in all things that you may reap the rewards of your faith.

Family Gear Box: Pet supplies, such as food, leash, extra set of ID tags, and one gallon of water for each pet.
Family Preparedness: Fill out emergency information and resource sheets and place next to all telephones.
Spiritual Preparedness: The Saints in the early days of the church came west because they had faith that God had called a prophet, Brigham Young. How can you demonstrate your faith today?

Spiritual Preparedness: Read “A Matter of a Few Degrees” by Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Ensign, May 2008, p. 57-60.

Family Gear Box: Add some white and brown sugar or some honey to make your food more tasty.

Family Preparedness: Look into a living will and other documents you may need in times of crisis.

Spiritual Preparedness: Read Alma 34:17-28; 39. Strive to pray more diligently so you may be led and directed in your life and that you may be able to be filled with the Spirit more frequently.

Spiritual Preparedness: Read “Gratitude: A Path to Happiness” by Bonnie D. Parkin, May 2007 Ensign, p. 34. Gratitude is a Spirit-filled principle. It opens our minds to a universe permeated with the richness of a living God. Make a list each day of the blessing you have in your life.

Family Gear Box: A multi-tool and a basic tool kit.
Family Preparedness: Practice a drill for each of your evacuation plans. Identify a storage area for your supplies, such as a closet along an inside wall or several heavy duty watertight garbage cans that can be stored outside. If using outside storage, ensure that containers are weather and animal proof.
Spiritual Preparedness: Read Revelations 3:20. Resolve to do your part to involve Christ in your life.

Family Gear Box: A hammer and a variety of nails. A saw for cutting wood and another saw for cutting metal.

Family Preparedness: Identify escape routes from house for all family members and identify safe places to go in case of fire, flood, earthquake, or other disaster.

Spiritual Preparedness: Mark your favorite scripture and share it with your family.
